A Passion for Digital Art
Born and raised in Nigeria, ThankGod’s journey into art began early in life. After high school, a course in desktop publishing he took introduced him to graphic design, which ignited his passion for combining traditional art with digital mediums. Over the years, his exposure to photography further honed his skills, allowing him to develop a unique approach that merges digital art with traditional African art style.
His background in Information Technology also played a role in shaping his creative process using digital means. This technical expertise not only enabled him to master the digital tools necessary for his art but also inspired him to create Artafriq.com, a global platform that promotes and sells digital art with a focus on African-themed works. Through Artafriq, ThankGod has given both emerging and established African artists a space to showcase their work to an international audience, pushing the boundaries of how African culture is shared and appreciated.
ThankGod’s commitment to his craft remained strong even after moving to the United Kingdom to pursue a Master’s degree in Project Management at one of UK's prestigious University. This international experience broadened his artistic perspective, enabling him to create works that resonate with both African and global audiences.
Exhibitions and Press
ThankGod has exhibited his work across various notable platforms such as Contemporary African Art, The Flux Review, Artafriq.com, and was also featured in People Dailys and Merit Times Newspaper, Nigeria. Artafriq is a platform he founded to promote African-themed digital artwork to a global audience. Through Artafriq, ThankGod is committed to giving emerging African artists a platform to connect with art enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
Inspiration Behind His Work
ThankGod’s artistic inspiration is strongly influenced by his Nigerian upbringing and the rich cultural narratives of African life, traditions, and identity. His fascination with how traditional art style can be reinterpreted through modern digital tools allows him to create works that connect with audiences worldwide.
Whether it’s a mosaic portrait celebrating African identity or a sketch of an African child fetching water from a manual water pump symbolising the resilience of an African child, each piece reflects ThankGod’s personal and artistic journey. His art connects tradition and modernity, inviting viewers to see Africa through a new, digital lens. Through his work, he seeks to stir emotions, tell stories of resilience, and showcase the beauty of African life to a global audience.
